Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

GenApp ("we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered application builder accessible at genapp.co.za and its subdomains (including gmail.genapp.co.za). The service is operated by Corrie Muller. If you have any privacy questions, contact us at corrie.muller01@gmail.com.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, and (optionally) your organisation name. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

2.2 Google OAuth Data

When you connect a Google account (required for Gmail features on gmail.genapp.co.za), we receive and store OAuth access and refresh tokens. We request only the scopes necessary to provide the features you use (e.g. reading and sending Gmail messages on your behalf). We do not access, read, or store the content of your emails beyond what is necessary to execute the specific action you initiated.

Our use of Google user data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

2.3 App Generation Data

When you describe an app to build, we collect your prompt text and the generated output (code, schema, configurations). This data is stored so you can access and download your generated apps.

2.4 Usage & Technical Data

We automatically collect basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps of actions. This helps us diagnose errors and improve the service.

2.5 Payment Data

Payments are processed by Yoco. We do not store your card details. We receive only transaction confirmations and subscription status from Yoco.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the GenApp service.
  • To generate apps using AI based on your prompts.
  • To authenticate you and maintain your session.
  • To execute Google API actions (Gmail, Calendar, Drive) that you explicitly request.
  • To process payments and manage your subscription.
  • To send you transactional emails (account confirmations, receipts).
  • To investigate abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

4. AI Processing

App generation is powered by Anthropic's Claude AI models. Your prompt text is sent to Anthropic's API to generate code and app descriptions. Please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy to understand how they handle data. We do not share Google account data or email content with Anthropic.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on servers located within Docker containers managed by us. Generated app files are stored in MinIO object storage. We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit and hashed credentials at rest. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Generated apps and associated files are kept until you delete them or close your account. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing corrie.muller01@gmail.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

7. Sharing of Information

We share your data only in the following circumstances:

  • Anthropic — receives your prompt text to generate apps (no personal identifiers beyond what you include in your prompt).
  • Yoco — receives payment information to process subscription charges.
  • Google — OAuth tokens are exchanged with Google to access the APIs you authorise.
  • Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data via your account settings.
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
  • Revoke Google OAuth access at any time via your Google Account Permissions.
  • Withdraw consent to data processing (this may prevent use of certain features).

9. Cookies

We use a minimal session cookie (genapp_session) to keep you logged in. This cookie does not track you across other websites. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

10. Children's Privacy

GenApp is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email of material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
